A ‘sentence’ is a group of words that communicates a complete meaning, thought or action.
For example, Raju goes to school.
Almost all sentences have a subject and a verb. Some also have an object.
1. Subject:- A subject is a person or thing that does an action. 2 Verb :- Verb describes the action.
3. Object :- Object is the person or thing that receives the action. For example, read aloud the simple sentence — “Nisha sells a laptop”.
There are mainly four types of sentences, i.e.,declarative, interrogative, exclamatory and imperative.
1.Statement or declarative sentence:- It provides information or statesa fact. It always ends with a full stop(.). This is the most common type of sentence. Eg. I go to office.
2. Question or interrogative sentence :- This type of sentence asks a question. It always ends with a question mark (?). Eg. How is the weather?
3.Emotion, reaction or exclamatory sentence :- An exclamatory sentence expresses a strong emotion, such as joy, sadness, fear or wonder. It always ends with an exclamation mark (!). Eg. Oh, it’s very cold!
4.Order or imperative sentence:- These sentences show an order, command, request or advice. It can end with a full stop or an exclamation mark (. or !). Eg. Complete your project.
